You‘re getting a puppy! How fun! 🥰 Now comes the challenging part of knowing what to buy in preparation of your new puppy.
Below is a list of products that I recommend. Clicking on each picture will give an explanation as to why I like these particular items as well as the link to Amazon to purchase them.
These are Amazon affiliate links and if you decide to purchase through them, I’ll get a few pennies towards my own dogs’ toys and treats.

Get a small washable dog bed for the crate. Washable and non-bulky is key for the puppy training period. Here's a link to one on Amazon from MidWest (great company!) for only $6.50!
I LOVE the Midwest 48" gold zinc exercise pen - it's great quality. This will make your life easier and can be used in so many ways. YES, you will need 48" for your pup as most are climbers! They make a topper for it if it's needed, too.
Halter and leash. Don't spend a lot at first as your puppy will grow quite a bit those first few months.
Stainless steel dog food & water bowls. Stainless will help prevent dog chin pimples and is easier to sanitize. I like this set because they have a non-slip bottom to keep the puppies from knocking them over quite as easily. With Pomskies, you do not want to use elevated feeding bowls, they look cute but can cause bloat. Something like a plastic boot tray ($5 ish) is good to corral the bowls too to help prevent messes.
Flirt Pole - Those first 16 weeks are hard. You're limited in your puppy's outdoor play due to not having all 4 shots yet (Parvo is a terrible death, don't risk it!). So how do you reduce their energy levels? Give this flirt pole a try. It can be done indoors.
Puppy Shampoo & Conditioner - It's best to only bathe your Pomsky about once a month. This is a great basic shampoo and conditioner in one. Because puppies move so much, I like this formula because it's tear-free, which makes the bathing experience better for your pup.
Himalayan Cheese Chews - Your puppy will be teething soon! To keep it from being your sofa, I'm including a few safe chewing options here. One are these cheese chews. They last a long time and unlike some things, they aren't made of plastic that puppies will ingest.
Cow Hooves: Okay, they STINK, they really do. But during the puppy chewing season, these stinky things will become your bestestest friend everrrr.
Grooming Rake. Furminator makes a nice grooming rake, but please do not mistake this for some of their bladed products (blade = bad for Pomsky coats!). The linked one is the correct one with rotating pins. Use this on your puppy daily to get them accustomed to it early. Under the ears, on the hindquarters, and on the backs of the legs are all places that will get fur mats if not brushed.
De-shedding Shampoo: You won't need this until they are about 1 year old. But, when they start shedding, this shampoo really helps!
Clippers. Yes, these are regular human toenail clippers. Until your puppy gets adult dog toes, these are easier, sharp, and you're less likely to catch the quick. The key is just to remove the hook off the nail. Mess with their feet & toes constantly to prevent them from being difficult to clip their nails in the future. I begin clipping their nails at 2 weeks of age.
Cranberry Extract Capsules. ½ sprinkled on food a few times a week will help prevent puppies from getting the common UTIs. Puppies squat so low to the ground when playing that they can get UTIs. This will help prevent them.
Lick mat. This is great for distracting your puppy with baths, brushing, nail clippings, etc. Smear a little peanut butter on there and you should have a dog that will sit still for a few minutes.
Dog Emergency Kit. This kit is nice for minor emergencies until you can get to the vet. I would also suggest adding the following to the kit: 1) Charcoal capsules for when your dog eats something it shouldn't. 2) hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting, 3) sterile eye wash, 4) a couple Benadryl caplets in case of allergic reactions
