Do Pomskies Shed?

Short answer: YES!

Long answer: YES YES YES YES. 🤣 In all seriousness though, this breed sheds as both the Siberian Husky and Pomeranian are both seasonal shedders. At around 1 year of age, puppies start their shed cycle. There is a big blow-out shed in the spring and one in the fall.

Pomskies with different coats shed differently:

  • Standard Coat - This coat tends to shed a lot all year round.

  • Plush Coat - This coat tends to shed a little all year, with a heavier seasonal blow-out than the Standard coat.

  • Wooley Coat - This coat sheds the least for most of the year. But when it’s time for a seasonal blow-out, it comes out in large clumps.

Things you can do to mitigate the fur in the house:

  1. Brush daily with the correct brushes (read more on grooming here)

  2. When you see your dog’s fur changing texture and starting to drop more fur, take them the groomer for a ā€œDe-shed - using de-shedding shampoo/conditioner, blow out, sanitary trim and butt skirt shapingā€. Clipping or shaving the fur makes shedding worse. Never use a Furminator or a grooming tool with a blade that cuts fur.
